Band News May 2014
The High School Band, 7th Grade Band, and Elementary Bands just performed an outstanding Spring Concert on April 8, 2014, to an enthusiastic audience. Mr. Palmer stated “It has been an excellent year, the students have made considerable progress, and they have developed their skills as musicians and performers, particularly the elementary students just starting out.”
The High School Band also performed at District Music Contest in Hannibal, MO on April 23rd, and received a II (Outstanding Rating) from the Judges. Mr. Palmer stated “It is very difficult to receive a I rating, or even a II rating at District Music Contest. The band played well, but we had a few problems for the music sight reading judge. Once this young group grows in experience and confidence, we can compete for superior ratings for the next several years. It was a good performance at contest this year, not a perfect performance, and that is close to what it takes to get an I rating, but I’m proud of how these students performed.”
