This list will be updated as the applications for these scholarships come into the Counselors Office (Identified with larger font) for the 2017-2018 School Year.  Scholarship are NOT Updated these can be used as a reference or to help you prepare for the application process. Scholarships that have been updated will be identified with ***



***Hagan Scholarship Foundation: Up to $10,000 (amounts awarded depend on FAFSA contribution). This scholarship is renewable. First time applicants must attend a 2 day workshop that include food/lodging in Columbia. Workshop is on time management, financial planning, goal setting, achievement, and responsibilities. Minimum GPA 3.25, ACT composite score 23, and commitment to work during college education for 240 hours prior to the academic year. Visit   http://haganscholarships.org/

***Milan Elks Lodge Scholarship  - It is open to ALL students in Sullivan County.  Their parents/guardians do NOT have to be a member of the lodge.  The deadline has been changed to February 1st. Milan ELKS Scholarship Application


***Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) in cooperation with the National Telecommunications Cooperative Association (NTCA) is offering a national scholarship opportunity for those households that use NEMR Telecom. A total of 30 scholarships valued at $2,000 each, will be distributed. NEMR Telecom is going to make an additional contribution of $500 (making it a $2,500 scholarship opportunity). Completed applications and accompanying documents should be sent to NEMR Telecom, P.O. Box 98, Green City, MO 63545.  All information must be received no later than February 1. The American Legion Post 365 scholarship will be presented to a graduating senior from GCHS.  The amount of this scholarship will be disclosed at a later date.  The recipient of this scholarship will be chosen by the scholarship committee of the King-Walker-Custer Post 365. Ability, need, and desire and the amount of other scholarships received will determine the selection. Applicants must complete this application with a page telling how you would benefit from receiving this scholarship. Submit it to the school counselor who will submit it to the chairman of the American Legion, King Walker-Custer Post 365 scholarship committee by 3:00 pm February 28, 2017American Legion Scholarship Application


The J. F. Morrissy Scholarship will be presented annually to a deserving graduating senior.  The amount of the scholarship will vary.  As directed by Mr. Morrissy the scholarship will equal the interest earned on a $5,000.00 certificate of deposit. The recipient of this scholarship will be determined by a majority vote of the Green City High School faculty. Applicants must complete an application form and submit it with a letter of recommendation from a community member to the counselor’s office by February 28, 2017. Funds from the scholarship will be forwarded to the recipient upon his/her entering college.  Application



Little Things Scholarship  (Sponsored by the Green City Community Betterment Assn.) This $200 scholarship is given annually to a qualified senior student at the Green City School who will be attending College or Technical School starting within 6 months after graduation from high school.  It is to be used to help pay for books and other small items associated with your course of study. Applications must be returned to the counselor by March 1, 2017     Application


The Kansas City Associated Equipment Distributors awards four annual scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each ($500 per semester) to four full-time students. Both men and women, attending a vocational/technical school, and pursuing a certificate or associates degree in Diesel Mechanics or Heavy Equipment Repair, are eligible to apply. The recipients will be chosen based on their interest in entering one of these fields of study, upon completion of their certificate or associates degree. Selection is based on the individual's general aptitude and personal traits that are conducive to success in these fields of study. To be considered, applicant must have submitted the complete application packet by the scholarship application deadline March 1 Application


NDTA Scott/St. Louis Chapter scholarship program is to promote careers in Business, Transportation Logistics, and Physical Distribution.  This scholarship program intends to award a minimum of two (2) scholarships of $4,000 each and two (2) scholarships of $2,500 each for recipients enrolled in an accredited bachelors or graduate degree program in 2017.  An additional award of $1500 is set-aside for students enrolled in a two-year associate degree or trade certification program.  Additional awards may be granted pending availability of funds.  Scholarships are open to any high school student that meets the eligibility criteria. Green City Alumni Scholarship - a scholarship to a deserving senior student of Green City High School who displays excellence in leadership, character, school activities and the intent to go to college or trade school. The amount of the scholarship is estimated at $800. Funds from the scholarship will be paid directly to the student after verifying college enrollment and class schedule for each semester. Applicants must complete the application and submit a 200 word essay regarding the reason for wanting/needing this scholarship, along with future plans of the student. The Alumni board along with the counselor, one administrator, and teachers from the school will choose the recipient of this scholarship. Deadline March 1, must be turned into the counselor by 3:00pm.  Application


Missouri Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (MAMIC) scholarship application is now available. The association will be awarding one $1,000 scholarship to each of the eight districts in Missouri. The Farmers Mutual Insurance Company of Sullivan County will be awarding one $200 scholarship to each of the schools in Sullivan County. You can see the counselor for an application or click HERE . Applications must be sent to: Farmers Mutual Insurance Company, P.O. Box 96, Milan, MO 63556  BEFORE March 1, 2016.


The Missouri Bankers Foundation - MBF Scholarship Program for 2017.  Seven $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to 2017 high school graduates for their first semester tuition payment and/or college expenses. The Missouri Bankers Foundation (MBF) provides college scholarships for graduating high school seniors interested in pursuing banking and banking-related careers. The Clyde and Opal Martin Scholarship A scholarship will be presented annually to a graduating senior who displays excellence in education, character, community service and who is planning on pursuing a career in education. This scholarship was established by Mr. & Mrs. Opal Martin. Mrs. Martin was a teacher here at Green City for many years, and a resident of Winigan, Missouri. The recipient of this scholarship is chosen by the scholarship committee. Scholarships are due to the counselor no later than March 3, 2017.   Martin Application


The Northeast Missouri Special Education Coop is offering scholarships for students interested in going into: Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA), Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA), and Speech/Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA). Deadline is March 3Criteria & Deadline       OTA Applications     PTA Application        SLPA Application


Green City Lady Lions Scholarship - The Green City Lady lions will present a scholarship annually to a college-bound senior ranking in the upper 50% of the class.  The recipient should possess outstanding character, strong leadership skills and be involved in school and community activities, especially to those providing services to others. The recipient will be chosen by a committee of three Lion members and a school official. Funds from the scholarship will be paid to the recipient and their selected college. Deadline – applications must be to the counselor by March 3, 2016.  Application


School of Economics Scholarship - Scholarship information is available at www.schoolofecon.org.  Any students pursuing a career in a business-related field (e.g., entrepreneurship, sales, marketing, computer/information systems, finance, accounting, personnel, economics, and management) should apply. MARE Scholarhip - Green City Students qualify for the MARE Scholarship - Students at MARE member districts are eligible for a new scholarship from the organization. ***Sullivan County Farm Bureau Scholarship is now available. Students need to see the guidance counselor for the application or click the link below. This is a $300 scholarship and the deadline for this scholarship application is March 15, 2018.  They will announce the scholarship winner at the Academic Awards ceremony in May.  To be considered for this scholarship, the applicants will need to (1) complete the application online, (2) print it out, and (3) sign the application at the bottom of the Personal Information Page before turning the application in. 2018 Sullivan County Farm Bureau Scholarship Application


*** Charles E Kruse Agricultural Scholarship -  Parents must be an active Farm Bureau member and student must be enrolling in a 4-yr Missouri college with a declared agricultural field major.  Application deadline is March 15, 2018. MFA Scholarship - Graduating seniors apply now for the MFA scholarship being offered at your high school. The amount of the scholarship is $2,000. The scholarship may be used at the college or university of your choice and toward any course of study you desire to pursue.   The winner is selected by a local selection committee. Putnam & Sullivan Counties Masonic Lodges Scholarship – Masonic Lodges was happy to report that they were able to increase the amount of the scholarship this year by $100 over last year, making it a $450 scholarship.  The applications should be turned into the counselor by March 17, 2017.   Application


The Garland Eugene Moore Math/Science AwardThe award will be presented annually to a graduating senior who displays excellence in the areas of Mathematics and Science. This scholarship was established by Mr. Moore’s son Edmund Moore, in memory of his father who was a 1938 graduate of Green Castle High School.  Math and Science were the two areas that most interested Mr. Moore.The recipient of this scholarship is chosen by the scholarship committee which will include 1 math teacher, 1 science teacher and 1 school official (counselor, principal, etc.) Due back to the counselor no later than March 24, 2017   Application


Floyd and Lela Badger Memorial Local Enterprise Development - A grant of $500 (five hundred dollars) to a graduating high school senior from Sullivan County to promote family farms and businesses, local economies, and rural life in Sullivan County. The grant may be used to support study at a post-high school institution of higher learning, a vocational or technical school, or a non-traditional educational experience such as an apprenticeship or on-the-job training at an established family farm or local business.  The study could include such topics as sustainable agriculture, rural living, local economies, and starting a business. The successful awardee must commit to training that will lead to a career owning, managing, or working at a small, local enterprise (farm or business) in Sullivan County. The applicant that demonstrates a willingness to pursue farming, organic farming and sustainable practices will be favored, as will one that demonstrates a willingness to farm in concert with natural plant, animal and soil ecology, and learn the science related to such natural farming practices.  Applicants that demonstrate a willingness to engage in a local business that supports such farming practices will likewise be favored. Deadline: In the counselors office no later than 3:00 pm on March 24, 2017 Application

The Green City R-1 Student Council will present a scholarship to a deserving senior who is or who has been a member of the GCHS Student Council during their junior high or high school years.  Ability, need, and service to their Student Council, student body, and school will determine the selection.  The applicant may be either college bound or planning to seek vocational-technical training. Return to Mrs. McConnell by March  24.  Application


Sullivan County Cattlemen's Association,  scholarship applications is now available for the 2016-2017 school year. Click  HERE  for an application.  You can send these in yourself OR to the counselor. Applications submitted to the counselor must be completed by March 29, 2017.


Missouri Courage Scholarship (MCS) 2017 scholarship application is now open for students! Here is the link: http://tinyurl.com/MCS2017Application. The deadline is March 31. Last year they awarded more than $10,000 to students from across the state who demonstrated their courage and commitment to LGBTQ+ people in their schools and communities. This year they will award up to $15,000 to qualified students in the form of three awards:  Rural Courage Award,  Missouri Courage Award,  Trans Courage Award.  Please visit their website to learn more about each of the awards and the requirements for applicants. 


MISSOURI INSURANCE EDUCATION FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP FOR HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS offers scholarships to four (4) deserving Missouri high school graduating seniors interested in or intending to pursue an insurance, risk management or actuarial science course of study in a Missouri college or university. Deadline for submission is March 31, 2016. Any submission postmarked after this date will not be considered. Applications must be typed. Additional instructions and applications for the scholarships are available on MIEF's website


***The Missouri Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture will award four - $500 scholarships to students pursuing appropriate certification in fields related to and supportive of agriculture. This includes but is not limited to: Heavy Equipment Operation, Welding, and Diesel/Farm Machinery Repair. All applicants or guardian must hold an active membership to Missouri Farm Bureau. The Smithfield Hog Production Missouri Family & Community Scholarships - Smithfield Hog Production Missouri is offering four scholarships in 2017, valuing at a total of $6000. Two $500 community scholarships will be awarded to seniors graduating in 2017 from a high school in a county in which Smithfield Hog Production Missouri has company-owned operations. Two $2500 scholarships will be awarded to an employee of Smithfield Hog Production Missouri, or an employee’s child, that meets the scholarship application criteria.

John Jobe Memorial Scholar/Athlete Award  - John Jobes memory is being honored for his work with youths and dedication toward athletics. Special attention may be given to those applicants having athletic achievement, however all should apply. This scholarship is open to senior students at Green City R-l School, for the chance to win a $500 scholarship. Deadline for the John Jobe Memorial Scholar/Athlete Award is April 3.  Application

Additional guidelines: Essay should have a word count of no less than 500 and not exceed 1,000,  12 point font style in New Time Roman. Essay topic: Write an essay indicating your field of study and career path. Include factors influencing your choice. Also explain your need for financial assistance and describe your means for gaining that assistance. The essay along with two letters of recommendation and the application must be into the counselor’s office no later than 3:00pm on April 3. 


The Community Action Partnership is offering a scholarship this year in each of our nine counties.  The scholarship can be found on our website www.capncm.org. The scholarship is for $750, due April 6, 2017,  it is for both traditional and non students.  There is an income guideline of 135% of the federal guidelines. The Patsy Moots Memorial Scholarship  - A scholarship will be presented annually to a graduating senior who displays excellence in education, character, and community service. The student must be planning on furthering their education.  Pasty was the secretary here at Green City School for 35 years. This scholarship was established by Pasty’s classmates.    The recipient of this scholarship is chosen by a committee. This scholarship is due back to Mrs. McConnell April 7, 2017. The scholarship funds will not be distributed until after the student shows proof of attending and education program beyond high school. Application


The Green City R-1 CTA will present a scholarship to a deserving senior who will be perusing a degree majoring in elementary or secondary education. Return to Mrs. McConnell by  April 7, 2017  Application


Thousand Hills Rotary Top Tech Scholarships: Two $500 scholarships awarded to students within any KATC program that have demonstrated a strong skill set, KATC 3.0 or higher GPA, strong involvement in community and school, and financial need. Please provide recommendation form (part of application form) to two of your teachers as part of the application process. Applications are due back to Mrs. Fraser (KATC Counselor) by April 13, 2017. If you are submitting to Mrs. McConnell you will need to have them submitted by April 10, 2017. Applications: HERE


The Loren Hatfield Body & Frame Scholarship: Loren Hatfield valued and supported technical skills attainment. As a life time member of Northeast Missouri, it is the families wish to award a $500 scholarship to a deserving student pursuing a postsecondary technical education. Applicants must provide a letter of admissions from their technical school, a letter of recommendation from technical center teacher or employer, and a personal letter describing future plans and how the scholarship money will be utilized. Applications are due back to Mrs. Fraser (KATC Counselor) by April 13, 2017. If you are submitting to Mrs. McConnell you will need to have them submitted by April 10, 2017. Applications: HERE


NCMC Scholarship - NCMC has a common application, meaning students can fill out one application for a multitude of scholarships. Deadline is April 15, 2017    The application can be found here: http://www.ncmissouri.edu/scholarship/


The Sullivan County Memorial Hospital (SCMH- Is offering up two scholarships. Students must live in Sullivan County and be interested in pursuing a healthcare career. The deadline to accept applications is Friday, April 14, 2016. All interested students should complete and forward a copy of the application to:  Jerry Dover, CEO, Sullivan County Memorial Hospital, 630 West 3rd St., Milan, MO 63556.   Seniors pursuing a healthcare career as a registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, registered radiology technician, medical technologist, medical lab technician or physician may qualify for the scholarship.  See the counselor for a copy of the applications.

Khan Law Firm   are proud to offer a generous $1,000.00 scholarship for individuals whose lives have been negatively impacted by a car crash, bicycle accident or other events leading to personal injuries. To qualify for this scholarship:

  1. You must currently be enrolled in or have been accepted to (and planning to attend) a college or university in the United States.
  2. You must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA in the current or most recent secondary education program you have attended.
  3. You must have been negatively impacted by a car crash, bicycle accident or other events leading to personal injuries.
