Summertime !

Another school year is coming to an end!  How quickly this year has sped by!

Starting this fall’s school year (2016-2017), the meningococcal vaccination is now required for our 8th graders and seniors.  Most colleges now require the meningococcal vaccination for admission. The Sullivan County Health Department had a FREE immunization clinic in April for our 7th graders, juniors AND seniors to prepare them for fall classes and college.  Fifty-three of our students got vaccinations this year at our FREE clinic to help protect them from preventable diseases. Many thanks to SCHD for providing this free service to us!

For students with health conditions that may require medications be given at school, the last week of May I am mailing home forms that needs to be filled out by parents and the student’s healthcare provider. This paperwork has to be filled out every year. You and your physician have the entire summer to complete the forms before the next school year starts. Please be prompt in returning them with other paperwork when school starts back up in August.

If you wish for your child to be able to carry his/her rescue medication (example: inhaler or Epi-pen), there are additional forms that must also be filled out each year. All paperwork needs to be turned in on or before the first day of school, along with any medication to be kept at school. If you need any of these forms but did not receive them, please contact me via my email, bbeyer@greencity.k12.mo.us and I will send them to you.

Thank you to our student’s parents, grandparents, and care givers for your continued support to keep our children as healthy as possible. For those students going into the 8th grade or becoming seniors in the fall, if you didn’t receive the required vaccinations at our FREE clinic, remember they must be done before school starts back up. Have a wonderful summer, and I’ll see you guys back in August!
