Nurse's Island

Welcome to the Nurse’s Island! This year Green City R-1 is bringing attention to many of our planet’s Biomes, and the Nurse’s Office has been transformed into a tropical island! We have had 14 days of classes so far, and boy have they been busy and fun! “Miss Joni “ from the University of Missouri Extension office has visited us already, reminding our kids how to fight off germs and sickness by eating right and using great hand washing habits. She even brought a healthy snack of trail mix for everyone. We love her visits throughout the year.

Often within the first few weeks of school many of our students have short periods of not feeling well. This can be due to the seasonal allergies and weather, because of everyone coming together after a summer apart and sharing their germs, or just getting used to being back in school-time routines.  Proper hand washing, plenty of rest, and drinking lots of water will help everyone feel better really soon, and help prevent getting sick too!

There are many more FREE events scheduled over the next few months including dental, vision and hearing screenings, and height and weight measurements, and in-school vaccination clinics. We are very fortunate to live in a community that has so many wonderful FREE programs in place to provide our students with screenings and care to help them be as healthy as possible.

If you want your child to take medicine that is brought from home (including cough drops), PLEASE remember our policy: ANY medication, prescription or over-the-counter, MUST be brought to the nurse’s office by the parent/responsible adult and have a signed permission form in order to be given to the student - - - NO student is allowed to transport ANY medication to or from school, with the exception of those who carry their rescue medication that have the proper forms on file. Please contact me with any questions you may have.
