In March students in Pre K – 6th grades met with the counselor and learned about many topics including: Perseverance, Grit, Emotions,  and SMART Goal Setting. Storybooks included: The Very Busy Spider, Are You My Mother, Howard B. Wigglebottoms it’s OK to Back Away, Flossie and the Fox, Wilma Unlimited, and Catching the Moon.

Students also had a chance to show understanding by writing their own skit and acting it out, brainstorming techniques to use when we feel frustrated or angry, and working together as a large group to reach a classroom SMART Goal. Students in grade 2-6 also completed a monthly journal entry, focused on the classroom topics. March writing prompt was: “Write what SMART Goal stands for. Why does it take perseverance to reach our goals?”

Looking Ahead:

April is the last month students will have guidance class. In April we will focus on Emotions, Hope, and Review all of our classroom topics from the school year.
