Junior High Boys Capture Conference Crown
The junior high boys basketball team recently wrapped up the 2017 Tri-County Conference title. The team finished up the conference season with a perfect 8-0 record. It is the third conference for the junior high boys in the past four years. In addition to being conference champions the team also won the championship of the Green City Tournament to start the season. The team still has win their last game, the Atlanta Tournament Championship game on November to complete their quest for an undefeated season. The Gophers will face rival Novinger in that game.There was a tremendous turnout for the team this fall with 21 players on the roster. The following are the members of the team: Freshmen--Riley Schoonover, Tristan Hershberger, Judd Hepler, Christopher Barto, Landon Doosing, Eli Tipton, Manny York, Zachary Hoyle and Wyatt Carmack. Eighth graders--Laydon Fields, Brody Parrish, Garrett Hall and Andrew Watt. Seventh Graders--Payton Balfany, Joel Barnes, Dominic Fude, Ketch Rope Hamar, Brody Lunsford, Declan Murphy, Aaron Peavler and Arie Salas. The boys have put in lot of hard work to have an outstanding season and show a lot of promise for the future as they continue to grow and learn.
