100th Day,Valentine's and Read Across America Day

First Grade has been busy with learning and celebrating. Over the past couple of months we have celebrated our 100th Day of School, had our class Valentine's Party, and Read Across America Day. On January 29th we celebrated our 100th Day.In First Grade, we made 100th day hats, practiced writing our numbers to 100 and 120 and read some books about 100th Day Celebrations. For Valentine's, students created and brought in their own Valentine boxes and participated in a contest. In the afternoon we had snacks and passed out our valentines to one another. On March 1st, we celebrated Read Across America Day by wearing pajamas or comfy clothes and brought in blankets and stuffed animals to read with. We had two guest readers, Mrs. Dolan and Mrs. Morehead. Mrs. Morehead brought in apples to go along with her books: Mr. Peabody's Apples and The Giving Tree. We listened to One Fish, Two Fish, and completed a graphing activity with colorful Goldfish crackers. We listened to Hop on Pop and enjoyed some popcorn. I discovered popcorn is a favorite snack of our class! It has been a busy time in First Grade and it doesn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon!
