Renovation Update
As we head towards the first day of school I’m excited with all the things we have managed to accomplish this summer. We have completed over 90% of the work planned for the summer. A list of the items we have completed can be found at the end of the article.
Upon entering the building, especially in the elementary, you will notice that we do not have all of the items hung back on the walls. Our first priorities were ensuring the classroom materials were returned to classrooms, the bathrooms were functional, and the cafeteria was able to serve students. We will continue to work in the evenings and on weekends to hang bulletin boards, coat hooks, etc.
One other large item that is unfinished is a portion of the sidewalk in front of the elementary building and the awning. A portion of the sidewalk will be poured Monday morning, but the crew will continue to work on the awning throughout the week. Please be patient with the interruption in traffic that this will cause and we urge you to use caution when entering the front parking lot. Please ensure that you and your child(ren) do not enter the construction areas.
Throughout the summer we have encountered a few issues and have managed to resolve them in a timely and satisfactory manner. We have also found ourselves saying “I wish we had…” As with any project there are items that we “missed” when planning the project. We have had to remind ourselves that not every item that we wanted to complete could be accomplished within the budget, and thus we have already started our list of other things that we hope to accomplish in the future.
