Spring Baseball in Full Swing

March 22, 2018

The Green City Gophers Baseball team hit the field to begin spring practice last month to prepare for the upcoming season.  After a very successful fall season in which the team went undefeated and defended their Tri-County Conference title the Gophers are looking to build on that success and in the spring.  There are 17 players out for the team this spring including 7 starters that have played for a district title the past two seasons as well a promising class of eight freshmen.  The boys have been putting in a lot of hard work in the past several weeks of practice.  The weather has allowed us to be out on the field a decent amount of time and on rainy or cold days we have been honing our swings an the indoor hitting facility.  The boys and myself have high expectations for the 2018 spring season.  Our first goal is to get better throughout the course of the season.  Our second goal is to take the next step and make it out of districts this season.  These young men are great to work with and represent the school well. The Gophers kicked off the spring season on March 20th at home with a 4-1 win over the Milan Wildcats.  The next game is scheduled for March 22 on the road against the Bevier Wildcats. If you get the chance come on out and take in some games spring, we are truly appreciative of the support of our fans.  See you at the ballpark!
