***Adzuna 'Student of the Year' Scholarship:  Awarded to the brightest and most forward-thinking individual of 2018.  The winner will receive a cash prize of $5,000 abd 1 to 1 career coaching to help them in their job search.  All students completing a high school, undergraduate, or postgraduate diploma are eligible to apply.  For more details please go to the following sites:  Contest: https://www.adzuna.com/student-of-the-year  and  Website:  www.adzuna.com.  December 31st deadline.


***Scholarship Central: a free portal designed to provide Missouri students easy access to regional scholarships. 


***MASFAP Who's Making A Difference Scholarship: The Missouri Association of Student Financial Aid Personnel is dedicated to serving students and opening avenues to access the benefits of higher education and advocating for the maintenance of high ethical standards in the financial aid profession.  Through early awareness and outreach they strive to help students to achieve and fulfill their dreams of a post-secondary education.  Share your inspiring story with them and be considered for a one-time $1,000 scholarship.  Apply myscholarshipcentral.org.  Deadline 10/31/18


***Hagan Scholarship Foundation: Up to $10,000 (amounts awarded depend on FAFSA contribution). This scholarship is renewable. First time applicants must attend a 2 day workshop that include food/lodging in Columbia. Workshop is on time management, financial planning, goal setting, achievement, and responsibilities. Minimum GPA 3.25, ACT composite score 23, and commitment to work during college education for 240 hours prior to the academic year. Visit   http://haganscholarships.org/


***Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, Inc.:  Deadline October 25.  This scholarship provides financial assistance to students who have significant financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity.  Scholarships range in award value from $6,000 to $25,000.  Eligibility criteria include:  high school graduation in spring/summer, demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income), and United States citizenship.  scholarships@horatioalger.org




***BeActive Health and Fitness Scholarship:  Deadlinle: January 1, 2019    Award Date:  February 1, 2019    Amount: $1,000/1st prize, $500/2nd prize, $250/3rd prize

James L. and Nellie M. Westlake Scholarship Program

Online Scholarship

Westlake Scholarship Program is open to Missouri residents who are graduating high school seniors and planning to enroll in a four-year college or university, OR students completing one or two full years at a Missouri community college and transferring to a four year college or university at the sophomore or junior level.  

Students must maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher.  

Family adjusted gross income of $60,000 or less.

***The Kansas City Associated Equipment Distributors Both men and women, attending a vocational/technical school, and pursuing a certificate or associates degree in Diesel Mechanics or Heavy Equipment Repair, are eligible to apply. The recipients will be chosen based on their interest in entering one of these fields of study, upon completion of their certificate or associates degree. Selection is based on the individual's general aptitude and personal traits that are conducive to success in these fields of study. ***Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) in cooperation with the National Telecommunications Cooperative Association (NTCA) is offering a national scholarship opportunity for those households that use NEMR Telecom. A total of 30 scholarships valued at $2,000 each, will be distributed. NEMR Telecom is going to make an additional contribution of $500 (making it a $2,500 scholarship opportunity). Completed applications and accompanying documents should be sent to NEMR Telecom, P.O. Box 98, Green City, MO 63545.  All information must be received no later than February 1. ***Milan Elks Lodge Scholarship  - It is open to ALL students in Sullivan County.  Their parents/guardians do NOT have to be a member of the lodge.  The deadline has been changed to February 1st.  Milan ELKS Scholarship Application


***The American Legion Post 365 scholarship will be presented to a graduating senior from GCHS.  The amount of this scholarship will be disclosed at a later date.  The recipient of this scholarship will be chosen by the scholarship committee of the King-Walker-Custer Post 365. Ability, need, and desire and the amount of other scholarships received will determine the selection. Applicants must complete this application with a page telling how you would benefit from receiving this scholarship. Submit it to the school counselor who will submit it to the chairman of the American Legion, King Walker-Custer Post 365 scholarship committee by 3:00 pm February 28American Legion Scholarship Application



***Little Things Scholarship  (Sponsored by the Green City Community Betterment Assn.) This $200 scholarship is given annually to a qualified senior student at the Green City School who will be attending College or Technical School starting within 6 months after graduation from high school.  It is to be used to help pay for books and other small items associated with your course of study. Applications must be returned to the counselor by March 1.  Little Things Scholarship Application


***The J. F. Morrissy Scholarship will be presented annually to a deserving graduating senior.  The amount of the scholarship will vary.  As directed by Mr. Morrissy the scholarship will equal the interest earned on a $5,000.00 certificate of deposit. The recipient of this scholarship will be determined by a majority vote of the Green City High School faculty. Applicants must complete an application form and submit it with a letter of recommendation from a community member to the counselor’s office by March 1. Funds from the scholarship will be forwarded to the recipient upon his/her entering college. Morrissy Scholarship Application


***NDTA Scott/St. Louis Chapter scholarship program is to promote careers in Business, Transportation Logistics, and Physical Distribution.  This scholarship program intends to award a minimum of two (2) scholarships of $4,000 each and two (2) scholarships of $2,500 each for recipients enrolled in an accredited bachelors or graduate degree program in 2017.  An additional award of $1500 is set-aside for students enrolled in a two-year associate degree or trade certification program.  Additional awards may be granted pending availability of funds.  Scholarships are open to any high school student that meets the eligibility criteria. *** Missouri Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (MAMIC) scholarship application is now available. The association will be awarding one $1,000 scholarship to each of the eight districts in Missouri. The Farmers Mutual Insurance Company of Sullivan County will be awarding one $200 scholarship to each of the schools in Sullivan County. You can see the counselor for an application or click HERE . Applications must be sent to: Farmers Mutual Insurance Company, P.O. Box 96, Milan, MO 63556.  If you are mailing them in the applications need to be to the Farmers Mutual Insurance company by March 1.


***School of Economics Scholarship  -  Seniors at GC high school who attended the School of Economics during elementary school are eligible for a scholarship. There will be two $500 scholarships awarded,  application deadline March 2.  Candidates should be pursuing a career in a business-related field (entrepreneurship, accounting, economics, marketing, etc.).  School of Economics: Scholarship Data Sheet & Application  Additional information for potential applicants visit:   www.schoolofecon.org.


***The Clyde and Opal Martin Scholarship A scholarship will be presented annually to a graduating senior who displays excellence in education, character, community service and who is planning on pursuing a career in education. This scholarship was established by Mr. & Mrs. Opal Martin. Mrs. Martin was a teacher here at Green City for many years, and a resident of Winigan, Missouri. The recipient of this scholarship is chosen by the scholarship committee. ***Green City Lady Lions Scholarship - The Green City Lady lions will present a scholarship annually to a college-bound senior ranking in the upper 50% of the class.  The recipient should possess outstanding character, strong leadership skills and be involved in school and community activities, especially to those providing services to others. The recipient will be chosen by a committee of three Lion members and a school official. Funds from the scholarship will be paid to the recipient and their selected college. ***The Missouri Bankers Foundation - MBF Scholarship Program for 2017.  Seven $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to 2017 high school graduates for their first semester tuition payment and/or college expenses. The Missouri Bankers Foundation (MBF) provides college scholarships for graduating high school seniors interested in pursuing banking and banking-related careers. ***Sullivan County Farm Bureau Scholarship is now available. Students need to see the guidance counselor for the application or click the link below. This is a $300 scholarship and the deadline for this scholarship application is March 15.  They will announce the scholarship winner at the Academic Awards ceremony in May.  To be considered for this scholarship, the applicants will need to (1) complete the application online, (2) print it out, and (3) sign the application at the bottom of the Personal Information Page before turning the application in. 2018 Sullivan County Farm Bureau Scholarship Application


*** Charles E Kruse Agricultural Scholarship -  Parents must be an active Farm Bureau member and student must be enrolling in a 4-yr Missouri college with a declared agricultural field major.  Application deadline is March 15. ***MFA Scholarship - Graduating seniors apply now for the MFA scholarship being offered at your high school. The amount of the scholarship is $2,000. The scholarship may be used at the college or university of your choice and toward any course of study you desire to pursue.   The winner is selected by a local selection committee. For additional information and an application, please see the counselor. ***Moberly Area Community College’s 2017-2018 Scholarship is available!  MACC provides one convenient application for all scholarships, institutional and endowment.  You may complete the form on-line or download a pdf and submit a paper copy.  MACC Scholarship Application must be to MACC by March 16.  Please review the Scholarship Application and Guide for a specific list and explanation of all scholarships available. ***Green City Alumni Scholarship - a scholarship to a deserving senior student of Green City High School who displays excellence in leadership, character, school activities and the intent to go to college or trade school. The amount of the scholarship is estimated at $800. Funds from the scholarship will be paid directly to the student after verifying college enrollment and class schedule for each semester. Applicants must complete the application and submit a 200 word essay regarding the reason for wanting/needing this scholarship, along with future plans of the student. The Alumni board along with the counselor, one administrator, and teachers from the school will choose the recipient of this scholarship. ***MARE Scholarship - Green City Students qualify for the MARE Scholarship - Students at MARE member districts are eligible for a new scholarship from the organization. *** The Garland Eugene Moore Math/Science AwardThe award will be presented annually to a graduating senior who displays excellence in the areas of Mathematics and Science. This scholarship was established by Mr. Moore’s son Edmund Moore, in memory of his father who was a 1938 graduate of Green Castle High School.  Math and Science were the two areas that most interested Mr. Moore.The recipient of this scholarship is chosen by the scholarship committee which will include 1 math teacher, 1 science teacher and 1 school official (counselor, principal, etc.) Due back to the counselor no later than March 23.  Garland Eugene Moore Math/Science Application


***Badger Local Enterprise Grant - A grant  to a graduating high school senior from Sullivan County to promote family farms and businesses, local economies, and rural life in Sullivan County. The grant may be used to support study at a post-high school institution of higher learning, a vocational or technical school, or a non-traditional educational experience such as an apprenticeship or on-the-job training at an established family farm or local business.  The study could include such topics as sustainable agriculture, rural living, local economies, and starting a business. The successful awardee must commit to training that will lead to a career owning, managing, or working at a small, local enterprise (farm or business) in Sullivan County. The applicant that demonstrates a willingness to pursue farming, organic farming and sustainable practices will be favored, as will one that demonstrates a willingness to farm in concert with natural plant, animal and soil ecology, and learn the science related to such natural farming practices.  Applicants that demonstrate a willingness to engage in a local business that supports such farming practices will likewise be favored. Deadline: In the counselors office no later than 3:00 pm on March 23   Badger Grant Application


***Green City R-1 Student Council will present a scholarship to a deserving senior who is or who has been a member of the GCHS Student Council during their junior high or high school years.  Ability, need, and service to their Student Council, student body, and school will determine the selection.  The applicant may be either college bound or planning to seek vocational-technical training. ***Sullivan County Cattlemen's Association,  scholarship applications is now available for this school year. Click  HERE!  for an application.  You can send these in yourself OR to the counselor. Applications submitted to the counselor must be completed by March 27. If you plan on sending the scholarship yourself you must have it to the address listed below by April 1.

***MISSOURI INSURANCE EDUCATION FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP FOR HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS offers scholarships to four (4) deserving Missouri high school graduating seniors interested in or intending to pursue an insurance, risk management or actuarial science course of study in a Missouri college or university. Deadline for submission is March 31. Any submission postmarked after this date will not be considered. ***The Missouri Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture will award four - $500 scholarships to students pursuing appropriate certification in fields related to and supportive of agriculture. This includes but is not limited to: Heavy Equipment Operation, Welding, and Diesel/Farm Machinery Repair. All applicants or guardian must hold an active membership to Missouri Farm Bureau. ***John Jobe Memorial Scholar/Athlete Award  - John Jobe's memory is being honored for his work with youths and dedication toward athletics. Special attention may be given to those applicants having athletic achievement, however all should apply. This scholarship is open to senior students at Green City R-l School, for the chance to win a $500 scholarship. Deadline for the John Jobe Memorial Scholar/Athlete Award is April 4.  Application   Additional guidelines: Essay should have a word count of no less than 500 and not exceed 1,000,  12 point font style in New Time Roman. Essay topic: Write an essay indicating your field of study and career path. Include factors influencing your choice. Also explain your need for financial assistance and describe your means for gaining that assistance. The essay along with two letters of recommendation and the application must be into the counselor’s office no later than 3:00pm on April 4. 


***The Community Action Partnership  The scholarship can be found on the Community Action Partnership website www.capncm.org. Deadline April 5. This scholarship is for both traditional and non students.  There is an income guideline of 135% of the federal guidelines. ***The Patsy Moots Memorial Scholarship  - A scholarship will be presented annually to a graduating senior who displays excellence in education, character, and community service. The student must be planning on furthering their education.  Pasty was the secretary here at Green City School for 35 years. This scholarship was established by Pasty’s classmates.    The recipient of this scholarship is chosen by a committee. This scholarship is due back to Mrs. McConnell April 6. The scholarship funds will not be distributed until after the student shows proof of attending and education program beyond high school. Patsy Moots Scholarship Application


***Putnam & Sullivan Counties Masonic Lodges Scholarship – Masonic Lodges was happy to offer a $500 scholarship.  The applications should be turned into the counselor by 12:00 p.m. on Friday, April 6.  Masonic Scholarship Application 2018   


***The Green City R-1 CTA will present a scholarship to a deserving senior who will be perusing a degree majoring in elementary or secondary education. Return to Mrs. McConnell by  April 6     CTA Scholarship Application


***The Smithfield Hog Production Missouri Family & Community Scholarships - Smithfield Fresh Meats in Milan  is excited to announce their 2018 Scholarship Program which will award one student from the Green City School's graduating class of 2018 a $2000 scholarship. ***Sullivan County Memorial Hospital (SCMH) Scholarship: This is a scholarship valued at $1000. Students must reside in Sullivan County and be interested in pursuing a healthcare career. Application must be to the Hospital by April 13 if you are sending yourself. ***Sullivan County Memorial Hospital (SCMH) Amanda Fordyce Scholarship Endowment: This is a scholarship valued at $500. Students must be at Green City R01 School (additional schools may apply, for individuals outside Green City School see your school counselor). Students must also be interested in pursuing a healthcare career. The deadline for application to be received by the Fordyce Scholarship Committee is April 13.  If you plan on giving this to the school counselor, please have application into Mrs. McConnell no later than April 9 to allow for the time needed it get to the correct location by their deadline!  SCMH Amanda Fordyce Scholarship Application    To mail in applications yourself, please send to:

***American Red Cross Scholarship     The scholarship amount awarded by the Red Cross to any graduating senior(s) from a high school participating in the Young Minds Change Lives Scholarship Program is determined by totaling the number of units collected at the school blood drive(s) held during the program timeframe.  Green City award amount is $250.  Applicants need to be graduating seniors but do not need to have donated blood or been involved in the organization sponsoring the blood drive; however, preference may be given to those students involved in the blood drive or the host organization.  Applications must be submitted to your High School Counselor by April 18.  To apply click HERE!


***Loren Hatfield Scholarship    As a life time member of Northeast Missouri, it is the family’s wish to award a $500 scholarship to a deserving student pursuing a post secondary technical education. Applicants must provide a letter of admissions from their technical school, a letter of recommendation from technical center teacher or employer, and a personal letter describing future plans and how the scholarship money will be utilized. Applications must be returned to Kirksville Area Technical Center by 3pm April 20. To apply click   HERE!   


***Kirksville Thousand Hills Rotary Top Tech scholarship will be awarded to two students within a KATC program who have demonstrated a strong skill set, maintained a KATC GPA of 3.0 or higher, demonstrated strong involvement in his/her community and school, and plan to pursue a post-secondary technical education. A completed application along with two recommendation forms must be submitted to KATC by 3pm on Friday, April 20th. To apply click HERE!


***Smithfield Hog Production Community & Family Scholarships are now available.   Smithfield Hog Production Missouri is offering four scholarships in 2018, valuing at a total of $6000. Two $2500 scholarships will be awarded to an employee of Smithfield Hog Production Missouri, or an employee’s child, that meets the scholarship application criteria. Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to seniors graduating in 2018 from a high school in a county in which Smithfield Hog Production Missouri has company-owned operations. Applicants should be advised that applications that do not follow the instructions of the scholarship letter WILL NOT be considered during the selection process.  ALL applications must be received by Smithfield Hog Production Missouri no later than May 1The winners will be advised of their award through an email by May 4th.  Mailed scholarships must be post marked no later than April 28.  If you choose to submit you application through the counselor you must have them to her by April 26 to insure they reach their destination by Smithfield deadline!  Applications: SHPD Family Application (Value $2,500)     and   SHPD Community Application (Value $500)




***Hammett, Bellin & Oswald Law & Justice Scholarship. This scholarship is for all first-year college freshman who will be attending an accredited College/University during the 2018-2019 school year (current seniors). Applicant must be enrolled in and plan to attend a college/university during the 2018-2019 school year, have proof of enrollment to an accredited college/university, and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. The application deadline is May 31. LATE and INCOMPLETE applications will not be considered.  Award Amount: $750

***Khan Law Firm   are proud to offer a generous $1,000.00 scholarship for individuals whose lives have been negatively impacted by a car crash, bicycle accident or other events leading to personal injuries. To qualify for this scholarship:

  1. You must currently be enrolled in or have been accepted to (and planning to attend) a college or university in the United States.
  2. You must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA in the current or most recent secondary education program you have attended.
  3. You must have been negatively impacted by a car crash, bicycle accident or other events leading to personal injuries.
