News From the Library

Wow!  What a great start to the 2020-2021 School Year!  I am so excited to be back!  Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed having TWO Summer Breaks, but I missed the students so much and was ready to come back!

We are already going strong in the library.  The students are "re"learning how to check out books, use shelf markers to put books back in the right place, and remembering their lunch numbers.  We've started out the year with All About Me workstations in the library and I am learning lots of new things about our students.  Did you know that a couple of our elementary students already have lawn mowing businesses?!  Or that one of our students can make a flower with their tongue?  One student can eat a whole pizza by themselves and another can put their foot behind their head!  I even learned that one of our students knows how to "back talk to cats"!  Interesting, huh?  There are lots of things they are looking forward to learning this year, as well!

In Computer class, we are practicing logging on and off and remembering our passwords and usernames.  The first couple of weeks was mostly about getting logged on and back in the routine.  We have gotten started with our Internet Safety Unit.  The students are learning about how to be safe on the internet.  Some things are what information to give out and what not to give out, what to do if someone they don't know tries to contact them on social media, keeping their usernames and passwords private, and cyberbullying, just to name a few.  These units will last a few weeks.  Throughout the year, we will be learning more about using Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets and how to be able to work together while using Google.
