School's Almost Out !

With less than four weeks to go, our school year is rapidly ending! The really cold days are finally over, and we are having more outdoor activities. Some mornings might still be chilly, though. Please dress your kids in layers, so they can be the most comfortable during their day.  And, don’t forget to have them wear proper footwear on PE days.

The PSP dental crew came back this semester and applied cavity-fighting fluoride varnish to most of our elementary students. They will return again in the fall for next year’s FREE dental exam and fluoride varnishing program. NMHC will also bring the dental van back next week to help our students get needed dental work done, without them having to miss school. We are so fortunate to have this service!

Many thanks to Lisa McClaran RN and the nurses from the Sullivan County Health Department for providing the required tetanus and meningococcal vaccinations to thirty-eight of our 6th, 7th and 11th graders to help prepare them for 8th and 12th grades. If you did not receive the required vaccinations at our FREE clinics, remember vaccinations must be administered before your 8th and 12th grade school year starts on August 23, 2021. The nurses will return on May 5th, 2021 to offer these vaccinations to the few who missed our St. Patrick’s Day Clinic.  They will return in the fall for our flu vaccine clinic to help protect 5th-12th graders and our staff during the next flu season.  Forms for the flu clinic will be available at open house in August when you come for fall enrollment.

We have multiple students with health conditions that may or may not require medications be given at school. After school lets out for summer, I will be mailing home forms to parents of students with health conditions. The forms must be renewed / filled out every year to help prepare an individual health care plan for the year. You and your physician have the entire summer to complete them before the next school year starts. Thank you in advance for promptly returning all forms with the other registration paperwork when school starts back up in August.

If you wish for your child to be able to carry his/her rescue medication (example: inhaler or Epi-pen), there are additional forms that must also be filled out each year. All paperwork needs to be turned in on or before the first day of school, along with any medication to be kept at school. Remember, NO student is allowed to transport ANY medication to or from school per school policy – including cough drops.  If you need any of these forms over the summer but do not receive them, please contact me via my email, bbeyer@greencity.k12.mo.us and I will send them to you.

Thank you to our student’s parents, grandparents, and caregivers for your continued support to keep our students as healthy as possible during this COVID pandemic. We wish our graduating senior class of 2021 the best of luck with their plans. I look forward to a great summer off and seeing everyone, familiar and new faces, here for the next school year. Have a wonderful summer, and I’ll see you guys in August!
