Agriculture Education Update

February 28, 2018

These last few weeks the Agriculture classroom has changed drastically in both the scope of the material that we are covering in class. Animal Science was learning about the different career opportunities that are offered in the Animal Science Career Pathway. Greenhouse has begun to receive our spring plants, so we have been spending time transplanting and taking care of plants. Conservation of Natural Resources has been talking about the different Forest Management Practice. Agricultural Science I have been learning about how to do Livestock Judging and Giving Reasons. Ag Sales has been talking about Tax Structure and Tax Management, while more recently getting to talk about Business Risk Management. Agricultural Science II has been studying Plants, Soils, and Entomology since the return from Christmas Break. Ag Construct has resumed working in the shop and is always looking for new and exciting projects.

Contest season being Friday March 2nd with Meats, Entomology, and Horses Traveling to Brunswick for Brunswick Judging Days.  As the starting of Contest season begins that Ag Classroom begins to move into studying the different Career Development Event(CDE) or Contest Materials. Green City FFA this year is looking at running a Meats, Entomology, Horses, Dairy Cattle, Dairy Foods, Horses, Poultry, Food Science, and an Agriculture Mechanics team.  Results will be posted the next school day after Contest in the Ag Classroom.

Last week was FFA week, though due to the weather, we held our FFA Pancake Breakfast on Wednesday February 28th, 2018. We thank the community for their continued support.
