Here is a list of scholarships that have been sent to the Green City Counseling office.

These are listed by monthly DUE DATE, some are due to the counseling office while others should be

sent directly to the committees. Keep an eye out for new scholarships because the list updates regularly.

Hagan Scholarship Foundation – Helping Rural Students Graduate College Debt Free (haganscholarships.org)

December 1, 2022 Varies The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide need-based merit scholarship, designed to provide recipients with the opportunity to graduate college debt-free. It provides up to $48,000 to attend college over four years, a $1,000 Personal Schwab Brokerage Account, a $20,000 HSF Schwab Account to manage until graduation with all gains up to $10,000 going to the recipient, and up to $8,000 to study abroad during the second semester of the third year of college or during the summer after the third year of college.
Shane Dean Voyles Memorial Scholarship Due to GCHS Counseling Office by April 1, 2023. Selected application must be postmarked by April 20, 2023 $750 One $750.00 award will be awarded, annually. (1) Each school in the State of Missouri may nominate one student to be considered for the award. (2) The nominee will be selected on athletic, scholastic and leadership abilities. (3) The nominee should be deeply involved in community and school activities. (4) Must use the award as a full-time student at an accredited college or university.
Charles L. Bacon Scholarship Postmarked April 20, 2023 $750 Two awards of $750.00 are given annually in memory of the first Missourian to serve as National Commander of The American Legion. Eligible are individuals who are currently members of The American Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary, or the Sons of The American Legion, or a descendant* of a member of any thereof. Applicants must be unmarried, a resident of Missouri, under the age of 21, and must use the scholarship as a full-time student in an accredited college or university.
Erman W. Taylor Memorial Scholarship Postmarked April 20, 2023 $750 Two $750.00 awards are given annually to a student planning on obtaining a degree in education, in honor of this Past National Executive Committeeman from Missouri. To be eligible, individuals must: (1) be a descendant* of a veteran who served 90 or more days of active duty in the armed forces and having an honorable discharge; (2) be a Missouri resident; (3) use the award as a full-time student at an accredited college or university; (4) provide a copy of the discharge certificate for the veteran on whose the application is made; and (6) submit an essay of 500 words or less on the subject "In your opinion, what was the most significant world event of this past year?"
Joseph L. Frank Scholarship Postmarked April 20, 2023 $750 Five awards of $750.00 are given annually to individuals who are descendants of a veteran. Applicants must have attended the 2022 session of The American Legion Boys State or The American Legion Auxiliary Girls State program. Applicants must be unmarried, under the age of 21, a current resident of the state of Missouri and must use the scholarship as a full time student in an accredited college or university.
Lillie Lois Ford Scholarship Postmarked April 20, 2023 $1,000 Two awards of $1,000 each are given each year. A boy who has attended The American Legion Boys State of Missouri or a full session of the Department's Cadet Patrol Academy. The second award is given to a girl who has attended The American Legion Auxiliary's Girls State program or a full session of the Department's Cadet Patrol Academy.
M.D. "Jack" Murphy Memorial Nurses Training Fund Postmarked April 20, 2023 $1,000 Currently one $1,000​ award is given each year, and may, by application, be extended for a second year. This award is​ available to a Missouri boy or girl training to be a Registered Nurse, and may be used in their​ freshman or subsequent college years. The student​ ​must have graduated in the top forty percent​ of their​ ​high school class or have a "C" or equivalent standing from their last college or​ university semester.
MO Detachment, Sons of the American Legion  Postmarked April 20, 2023 $500 One award of $500 is given annually to a student who is a member of the Sons of the American Legion or of the Junior Auxiliary of the American Legion. The student must complete an essay on the topic “What being a member of the American Legion Family means to me.”

Access EXTRA Scholarship

February 1 to April 15, 2023 $2,000 per year and renewable for a total of up to four years Access EXTRA Scholarship, is open to graduating Missouri high school seniors who meet certain criteria such as a cumulative high school GPA of 3.5+ through at least seven semesters and an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of 12,000 or less. No essays are required, and you will need to upload your Student Aid Report (SAR)* and your high school transcript. The application is open February 1 to April 15, 2023 or until funds are depleted so do not delay in applying if you qualify!
Twelve Courts of Christmas Athletic Scholarship Fund Scholarship Fund I of T (cfnwmo.org) 3/1/2023 $500 The students eligible for assistance shall be graduating high school seniors participating in the Twelve Courts of Christmas. Student must have a 3.0 or higher grade point average (or equivalent). Students must be active in high school athletics and activities as well as community involvement. Students must be of good moral character. Student must complete a short essay explaining what this scholarship means to them in fulfilling their educational/career goals and what their involvement in community service has meant to them.

The Smithfield Plant in Milan, MO is now accepting Smithfield Foods Scholarship applications from your graduating seniors until March 31st,  2023.   The Smithfield Foods Scholarship amount for 2023 is $1,500.  The application that interested Seniors should complete and return is attached.   The completed applications and essays may be sent directly to me via email or fax (214-414-1157).
